Stop & Shop is a multibillion-dollar corporation and the largest food retailer in New England. The company employs 41,000 associates in its network of stores, distribution centers, manufacturing plants and offices, which stretch across more than 180 communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Stop and Shop builds many new stores each year and some of the new sites generate local opposition to the construction process or to the end product itself. CBI designed a highly tailored training program for more than 50 of Stop and Shop's senior staff who are involved in land acquisition, permitting, community affairs, and building design. A detailed case study of one of their most stubborn disputes was used to teach the principles, processes, and skills involved with handling such disputes in a more effective way. |
